Cheesy Taco Pasta Is Addictive

*** Warning**** This dish is highly addicting and not on any diet plan. Tonight I was in the mood for tacos why not break out the Instant Pot and make Instant Pot Cheesy Taco Pasta.

Last time I made Fire Hot Instant Pot Taco Bowl it was such a huge hit I wanted to try a pasta taco dish. In 4 minutes I had a cheesy taco dish. This Instant pot completely amazes me I don’t know how I went so long without one.

What Pasta Do You Use for Instant Pot Cheesy Taco Pasta

I reach for a smaller pasta. Rotini, elbow or even medium shells works. You just want a shorter pasta vs long like spaghetti or angel hair.

You can use what you have on hand, all smaller pasta will cook up nicely in the taco pasta recipe.

Toppings for Cheesy Taco Pasta

This is where it gets fun! Add in your favorite taco toppings to create layers of flavor. Here are some toppings to consider adding!

  • Lettuce
  • Avocado or guacamole
  • Fresh tomatoes
  • Green onions
  • Cilantro
  • More cheese
  • Corn
  • Olives
  • Sour cream
  • Etc

If you have your favorite taco toppings, just reach for them! I have even drizzled ranch dressing over the top like I would my taco salads!

Can You Use Homemade Taco Seasoning for Taco Pasta

Absolutely! Just add in whatever is equivalent to around two tablespoons of pre-made packet seasoning.

I have used homemade taco seasoning before when I didn’t have a packet anc it turned out fantastic.

Can You Substitute for The Ground Beef In Taco Pasta

You are welcome to use ground turkey or ground chicken to replace the ground beef in the recipe. You might need to add a drizzle of olive oil to add so it doesn’t stick when sautéing it up.

How Fast Does Instant Pot Taco Pasta Cook

After you sauté your meat and then toss in your pasta it takes just 4 minutes to cook.

Now, you have to remember that with any recipe the Instant Pot needs to come to pressure before it begins cooking. Pressurizing varies but can take anywhere from 10-20 minutes depending on your pot and the recipe.

How to Store Leftover Taco Pasta

Simply let you Pasta cool slightly and then place in airtight containers and toss in the fridge. You can store your pasta for up to three days.

This is wonderful for meal prepping for lunches for a few days or even quick dinners. I place some taco pasta in single serve containers. Then in another bowl I add in my favorite toppings. This will keep items like lettuce crisp. Then heat up your pasta mix and then add on your toppings.
